How Does Xeomin Work?

Xeomin is a type of neuromodulator made of a derivative of botulinum toxin called incobotulinumtoxinA. When injected directly into the muscles, neuromodulators block the nerve signal to prevent muscle movements that lead to dynamic wrinkles.

Dynamic wrinkles are any creases in the skin resulting from muscle movements, such as smiling, laughing, squinting, or frowning. When injected directly into the muscles, Xeomin relaxes dynamic wrinkles, erasing lines and smoothing the skin.

What to Expect

Before the treatment begins, the skin is cleansed and prepared. A topical numbing agent may be applied if needed. Xeomin is then administered through a fine needle in a series of injections directly into the muscles responsible for the wrinkles we treat. The whole process takes between 15 to 30 minutes. You can resume your daily routine immediately following your treatment; however, to ensure optimal results, you must refrain from touching your face, participating in any strenuous activity, and lying down for the first four to six hours. You may begin seeing results after five to ten days, lasting up to six months.
